Amanda Pleavin

Amanda is the Managing Director for the Cancer Alliances in the East of England, with responsibility for the North and South Cancer Alliances. Amanda leads the East of England response and recovery to the COVID pandemic for cancer services across the two Alliances.

“Improving cancer services in the East of England remains our key aim and to do this we work collaboratively with colleagues in order to put patients and the public at the heart of all that we do.”

 


Mike Saunders

Assistant Director - Mike is the Assistant Director for both the North and South Cancer Alliances as part of NHS England and Improvement in the East of England. Mike has over fourteen years experience of working within the NHS and Department of Health.

"My role involves developing strategic direction with the senior management team across the two Alliances at a regional level. Working closely with the National Cancer Programme team to ensure any national initiatives are transitioned at a regional level and across all six systems."

 


Sarah Miller

Head of Informatics - Sarah leads on cancer informatics for NHS England and Improvement in the East of England, covering both the North and South Cancer Alliances. 

"I have worked in cancer statistics and programme management for fifteen years within cancer charities, the Civil Service and the NHS. With one in two people now at risk of being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, cancer data has never been so important.

"Using informatics alongside qualitative local narrative, the Informatics Team aim to provide a useful, robust source of evidence-based cancer intelligence for our local stakeholders that identifies variation. Our ultimate aim is to understand and improve cancer outcomes for our patients." 

 


Emily Beirne

Senior Informatics Analyst - working within the Informatics Team for NHS England and Improvement in the East of England, covering both the North and South Cancer Alliances.

"I have worked as an analyst for around seven years within the NHS. I have experience in working with a range of datasets and sources, presenting complex information in understandable formats to provide key information that our system colleagues can use to highlight patterns and help inform decisions. Translating data into information to be used to improve patient pathways."

 


Victoria Doyle
Victoria Doyle

Head of Transformation Programmes - Victoria works closely with the systems in the North Alliance, helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the north of the region. 

"I have worked in a number of transformation roles in the health and care sector over the last seven years. I thoroughly enjoy working in cancer transformation as it is extremely rewarding and the programmes can make significant improvements for patients."

 


Kate Jackman

Improvement Delivery Lead – Kate supports the delivery of high quality, consistent and equitable cancer services and positive health outcomes for cancer patients and the public, in-line with NHS cancer strategy and the Long-term Plan.

"I have 18 years experience in the NHS and the last ten years have been in operational lead roles in an acute trust across multiple specialties."

Cancer Programme Manager – Sue supports systems in the North of the Alliance through collaboration, by shaping improvements towards the faster diagnosis programmes, with the aim to support the delivery of quality cancer services through early diagnosis and best practice timed pathways. These are aligned to the ambitions of the Long Term Plan, helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the north of the region.

“Being a nurse for over 25 years, my focus is to continue making a positive difference to patient care by working alongside and supporting our system colleagues, ensuring patient first, through improved quality with efficient and effective pathways and processes”.

Programme Manager (North Alliance) - The aim of this role is to deliver the key programmes that are aligned to ambitions of the Long Term Plan, helping to shape improvements in cancer care across the north of the region. 

"My experience includes over fifteen years spent working in NHS senior operational management roles within an Acute Trust, with a particular focus and interest in cancer services.

"I have significant experience in clinical service management, service transformation and the delivery of performance standards. I am passionate about involving patients, carers and the public in the planning,delivery and evaluation of health care services."
