As part of the change programme ‘Creating the new NHS England', all Cancer Alliances hosted by NHS England, transferred their hosting arrangements either to NHS ICS or provider organisations.

The East of England Cancer Alliances (North Alliance; Cambridgeshire & Peterborough; Norfolk & Waveney and Suffolk & North East Essex and South Alliance; Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes, Hertfordshire & West Essex and Mid & South Essex) transferred from NHS England to Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System (CPICS) on 1 April 2024.

Additionally, the two alliance footprints: North and South, converged to form a single alliance; East of England Cancer Alliance, aligned to the six EoE ICS’ also on 1 April 2024. This evolution formalises the way of working that has been in existence since March 2020, at the commencement of the pandemic.

This change brings us in line with other alliances across the country and provides an opportunity to build on the existing foundation, as the alliance, together with our partners, continue to support and make improvements for cancer patients across the region.
