Cancer Research UK 

Cancer Research UK has some helpful resources for health professionals, including information and tools about early diagnosis, resources on screening and cancer prevention, as well as treatment options, clinical trials, strategic decision making and support. 


Gateway C - education resources. 

Gateway C is a free online cancer education platform developed for primary care professionals across England, that aims to improve cancer outcomes by facilitating earlier diagnosis and improving patient experience. Gateway C assists users to confidently identify, refer and support patients with symptoms on a suspected cancer pathway.

Gateway C courses are developed by GPs and other specialists, providing valuable insights from those regularly dealing with specific cancers. All courses are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect new clinical guidance, with new modules in development for other cancers. Further information about the courses is available here. 


Macmillan Cancer Support - GP resources

Resources include top tips for GPs, rapid referral guidelines, quality improvement resources, review templates, risk assessments, clinical updates, research and innovation. 


National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidance: Suspected cancer recognition and referral  

This guideline covers identifying children, young people and adults with symptoms that could be caused by cancer. It outlines appropriate investigations in primary care and selection of people to refer for specialist opinion.

It aims to help people understand what to expect if they have symptoms that may suggest cancer.


Primary Care Network, Directed Enhanced Service - Early Cancer Diagnosis Guidance

This best practice guidance should help inform and support implementation and delivery of the 'Network contract directed enhanced service' requirements, for supporting early cancer diagnosis. 


Royal College of GPs

RCGP resources include a section on cancer with clinical toolkits, audit reports, policies, training and development.
