Anglia Skull Base NCG
The Cambridge Skull Base Unit (CSBU) and Network Cancer Group is one of the largest skull base units in Europe. We offer a comprehensive skull base service integrating lateral, anterior and central skull base in one multidisciplinary team of experts in the field. This ensures a personalised experience for patients, who are provided with a balanced view of their management options and supported through the decision making process. The CSBU provides services principally to patients in the former Anglia Cancer Network region including Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk, and also parts of Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Essex and Hertfordshire. The MDT is hosted at Cambridge University Hospitals (Addenbrooke’s Hospital) which is the regional neurosciences centre. The reputation of the service attracts referrals from across the UK. The population of the East of England as a whole is 5.85 million (ONS Census, 2011) and consists of 19 Clinical Commissioning Groups. The principle commissioners for the service are the CCGs of the above areas, which mostly fall within the Anglia region.
The MDT and main outpatient clinic are held at Addenbrooke’s Hospital twice monthly, with the outpatient clinic allowing single or joint review by ENT, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and oncology as well as having dedicated clinical nurse specialist support. Inpatients are admitted to neurosurgical, ENT or oncological inpatient areas as required. The skull base service maintains close links with the local patient support charities and patient representatives in order to facilitate user involvement.
