Dr Christopher Scrase

Christopher qualified in medicine from Cambridge University in 1988.  He has been a Macmillan Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Ipswich since 1998.  His chief clinical interests and expertise are in urological, head and neck, thyroid and skin malignancies, the use and development of state-of-the-art radiotherapy techniques and the palliative intervention of advanced prostate cancer. He has co-authored international guidelines on prostate cancer management and IPEM guidelines on the implementation of IMRT. In addition he has embedded trial recruitment into his work, is the principle investigator for a number of clinical trials and has co-authored a range of papers related to these with some leading to significant changes in clinical practice that improve patient care.

He has teaching responsibilities through Nottingham and Norwich (UEA) Universities. In recent years Christopher has had a range of leadership responsibilities within his principle employing organisation and has overseen major service developments. Latterly he has led an executive group in developing and overseeing a strategy to ensure equitable access to research for patients with cancer. In addition to his commissioning responsibilities with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG, he is the joint representative for the Midlands and East Radiotherapy Clinical Reference Group. 

He is pleased to be working with the Cancer Alliance and fellow colleagues to facilitate further improvements in patient care within his STP footprint.
