James trained in Leeds at the internationally renowned St James’ teaching hospital. He successfully completed higher training in both respiratory and general internal medicine and completed sub-speciality training in lung cancer, airways disease, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary infection including tuberculosis and bronchiectasis, sleep medicine, ventilation, cough and pulmonary vascular disease.
Following James’ appointment as a Respiratory Consultant at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital in 2006, he became the Lung Cancer Lead, and transformed the Multi-Disciplinary Team and implemented One-Stop Clinics ensuring excellent compliance against performance measures. James has contributed to regional Lung Cancer developments through the local network and became mesothelioma lead.
He is passionate about service improvements, patient safety and maximising the patient experience and this has led to the appointment of medical director at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Clinical Cancer Lead for the Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes STP.
