Faecal Immunochemical Testing (FiT) in Primary Care
We will implement FIT in primary care throughout the East of England as a diagnostic test for suspected lower gastro intestinal (GI) cancers, with a view to identifying more patients at risk of colorectal cancer with otherwise low-risk symptoms.
Better sensitivity of FIT testing in comparison to gFOBt testing will lead to earlier detection of polyps and improved prevention of colorectal cancer.
GPs will have direct access to FiT testing to speed up ruling out a cancer diagnosis.
